This video is from a Rice University survey that floated around last semester. It’s making me watch my professors closely for how they interact with their respective families. How many hours will I be able to work each week after I have taken the time necessary to be the kind of parent and partner I want to be?
Work/Life Balance as an academic

My unscientific predictions:
+ Academic families with children will publish more research in the next 200 years than academic families without children.
+ Children raised in academic families where the parents spend time nurturing and teaching their children will grow up to have more fulfilling careers. If they choose research careers, they will produce higher quality and more relevant research than children who were raised in families where the parents were too busy with their own careers.
+ You will find a work/life balance that suits you well.
+ You will continue contemplating topics as relevant as this one
Kind regards,
Justis
