You know, I'm not sure how the sample rate (the khz) and bit rate (kbps) combine to make the file size, myself, but I always record at 44.1 kHz and vary the bit rate as needed for file size. *shrug* Your mileage may vary.

Well, if I can get myself to believe that either 1.) I am that interesting (shouldn't be too hard with The Great Ego being what it is), or 2.) Think of something I do frequently enough to comment on regularly, or (most likely) 3.) pay more attention, jot down notes on a daily basis about stuff that makes me think, (in other words, if I can get material) I will totally do it, it wasn't hard at all. Very painless, thanks to your direction. I think the compassion thing is growing in me, and I don't want to discount it, but for me its compassion for people, and a rejection of privilege. The money thing seems to be settling, we shall see for sure tomorrow. I think it was the podpress site that said to record in mults of 11khz (or something).

It's so good to hear you!! I'd be a happy chica if you did a podcast.

You know, I've gone almost completely vegetarian, myself. The only "meat" I eat are in the form of my vitamins, which -- silly me (sarcasm) -- I didn't think to read the ingredients of; they have fish in them. You mentioned cost to the environment as a reason, and I'm with you there. I'm also a little inspired by my friend Mae's near-Buddhist beliefs (compassion for all) and my own discovery that my body (particularly the digestive processes) just don't really care for meat.

I hope the money thing gets settled, and I hope you do more audio!

P.S. - I recorded mine at 128 Kbps, but if you're not doing music, you can probably go to 64 w/o much of a problem.
